3d printed recreation of Rembrandt painting

Trying to recreate a Rembrandt with technology is what ING has done. First they collected and analyzed 150GB of data from scans of his paintings both in 2d and 3d height mapped scans which helped show the brush strokes and amount of paint used in strokes. After processing all this data and creating algorithms that could try and mimic Rembrandt's style, a high resolution special 3d printer was used to create this "new" Rembrandt painting. Would this pass as a forgery, and if not, to what level would experts be able to recognize the differences from a true Rembrandt are curious questions this poses. Although the goal was not to create a forgery, this project showcase how data can be collected and used.
